The Planning and Zoning Commission performs a variety of services intended to protect, maintain, and develop an attractive, safe, and healthy environment. Primary functions address property development and land use activities occurring in the City.
Responsibilities
The Planning and Zoning Division provides direction and leadership in implementing the goals, objectives, and policies of the City as adopted by the
City Council.
The Division is also responsible for the orderly development of the City and the administration of various land use regulations, including the zoning code, design review ordinances, sign code, and the cultural resources preservation ordinance.
Planning and Zoning is responsible for:
Reviewing zoning change and specific use requests
Interpreting the Zoning Ordinance
Processing and recommending amendments to the Zoning Ordinance
Assisting residents and developers in platting and development
The purpose of the committee is to ensure safe and orderly growth within the City limits and extraterritorial jurisdiction.
